The Industrial Museum at Kistefos-Museet is a joint designation for the historical-industrial collection at Kistefoss. The collection consists of buildings, machines and various tools and objects, all of which are used to tell stories about the work situation and the social life of those who worked and lived either on or near the factory area of the Kistefos Pulp Mill.
In the latter years, the old wood pulp mill, as a unique monument of Norwegian industrial cultural heritage, has undergone extensive rehabilitation work. The conservation started in 2008. All of the buildings at Kistefoss has undergone conservation work at a cost of over 21 million Norwegian kroner. The Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage has greatly and decisively subsidized the vast work of preserving the wood pulp mill for the future.
The Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage has given the Kistefos-Museet, as one of 15 technological and industrial sites in Norway, grants for reconditioning and maintenance.
